Indiana Borough Mandatory Recycling Requirements


Residential Requirements

Indiana Borough Ordinance Number 1491 requires all persons who are owners, lessees and occupants of residential property to separate the following items from all other solid waste produced by such residence for collection through the mandatory curbside recycling program:
  • Aluminum cans
  • Steel and bimetal cans
  • Clear glass bottles and jars
  • Colored glass bottles and jars

It is also mandatory for all persons who are owners, lessees and occupants of residential property to separate leaf waste from all other solid waste produced by such residence.

Commercial, Municipal, or Institutional Requirements

Indiana Borough Ordinance Number 1491 requires all owners, lessees and occupants of commercial, municipal or institutional establishments to separate the following items from all other solid waste produced by such non-residential establishment for recycling:
  • Aluminum cans
  • Corrugated cardboard
  • Office Paper
  • Clear glass bottles and jars
  • Colored glass bottles and jars
  • Leaf waste
This requirement also applies to community activities such as fairs and organized sporting events.
